Publishing is limited to facilities listed in the national health facility registry and connected to OpesCare. There is no informal supply in these results.
Search by group and component
Whole blood, red cells, plasma and platelets are searched separately, because a unit of one is not a substitute for another.
Raise an urgent need
A facility can publish an urgent requirement to the network without exposing the identity of the patient it is for.
Reservation and transfer
A holding facility can reserve units against a request and record the transfer, so two facilities are not counting the same unit.
Chain of custody
Every reservation, release and transfer is recorded against the unit, so where it went is answerable afterwards.
Unscreened and stale units are excluded
A unit that has not passed screening, or whose facility has stopped reporting, is withheld from results rather than shown as available.
Clinical responsibility stays with the clinician
OpesCare reports what a facility has published. It does not cross-match, does not clear a unit for transfusion, and does not replace a clinical decision. Compatibility testing, handling and transfusion remain the responsibility of qualified healthcare professionals.
For hospitals and blood banks
Facilities publish availability from the OpesCare portal, or sync it from an existing blood-bank system through the Connect API. Published counts refresh the patient-facing network automatically.
